THiNK submission

I had a good talk with the curator at the fantastic creative space THiNK in Nottingham a few months ago and she asked me to consider putting in for the summer open exhibition. It sounded like a great opportunity as the gallery gets good foot fall due to them hiring out their rooms for corporate events as well as the cafe which seems to attract a steady stream of visitors.

I asked the curator about what type of work they accept – as they will take 100 works from those submitted. She indicated that they prefer a wide spectrum of work so as to appeal to a wide audience. So after some deliberation I did some Photoshop work and created the following emulsion transfers on hand made canvases. The theme I took was a twist on the human condition, behaviour and our technology, looking at parallels in the natural world.

As my first real gallery submission this has been quite challenging in terms of choosing pieces that I thought would stand out but also the tricky decision of pricing the work. The nice thing about THiNK is that they will guide you with pricing your work when you are accepted so a very useful learning experience. So fingers crossed that I sell something.
