Raised Beds was a unique collaboration between Djanogly Art Gallery and FDA students at Nottingham College and was a response to the Harold Gilman exhibition currently on show in the main gallery. I chose to try my hand at painting, specifically acrylic. I’ve never really painted before so it was a steep learning curve, particularly colour theory and mixing. I also chose to use a palette knife and early unsuccessful attempts with brushes. The palette knife seemed to free me up with being less precise about mark making and created some wonderful textures.
