My son is a big fan of brutalist architecture so we spent an afternoon in Long Eaton trying to capture some shots of the urban environment in the fascinating back streets. Long Eaton has suffered economically but there is a rich history of manufacture and many of the buildings still reference the prosperous past. We found some great colours and I particularly liked the blue and yellow window glass of the top floor office. I wasn’t sure about whether colour or black and white would work best so I’ve included a selection of both below for comparison. There’s a lesson for us all here, in that we really don’t need to travel very far to find great subjects.
