A quick visit to this year’s Ferens Open in one of my favourite cities. I didn’t enter this year and if I’m honest, I thought the quality was a bit lower than what I’ve seen in the past. My highlights are below, I particularly liked the last painting; it had a spiritual and confusing air about it and a lovely limited palette. Worth the trip as ever, particularly to see the Freedom Festival, which I chanced upon, one of those wonderful random experiences where you walk into something quite spectacular. The sun was out to boot.
