A trip to Germany to support my athletic partner at the World Transplant Games meant we had the opportunity to visit galleries in two of the major cities. Gerhard Richter was naturally prominent in both galleries, and I particularly enjoyed his early experimental photography. Otto Dix gave us his typical bleak view of pre-war Germany, and the subversive Hannah Höch, arguably the inventor of the photomontage, was there in abundance. Overall, beautiful galleries and a rich selection of work – I’ll leave you to enjoy the rest.
