Alison Lambert has a unique drawing style that gives her human figures a fractured and ghostly appearance. I really enjoy how she uses collage to create depth in her drawings, ripping away paper to create sharp edges that mix beautifully with subtle charcoal patches. There is something here that reminds me of the gnarled faces of Lucian Freud, but the charcoal gives a more transient impression, as if we could lean in and blow the image away. Plenty of metaphors to explore here in a thoughtful exploration of the dark depths of the human soul.
